“Kolak Ungu” Introduced at The Media Hotel & Towers

The freshly re-branded Media Hotel & Towers has recently added a new culinary creation to its gastronomic collection. The 5-star hotel which is located at Jl. Gunung  Sahari Raya No. 3 Jakarta introduces Kolak Ungu, a uniquely exotic traditional dessert menu specially concocted by the hotel’s talented chefs.

Kolak is famous in Indonesia as local home-made dessert served as opener of Ifthar tradition or Buka Puasa during the month of Ramadhan. Originally, the menu contains sweet potato, banana, cassava, and mung bean boiled all together with coconut milk, water, sugar and some local spices.

At the Media Hotel & Towers, Kolak is treated to be unique, healthy, fresh, tasty and exotic. Kitchen team of the hotel adds special ingredients and applies a different technique to create a distinctive menu. The menu itself is well-known as Indonesian traditional dessert menu cooked at homes but the hotel would like to bring this menu to the attention of distinguished clienteles of a luxurious hotel.

At the 5-star hotel, Kolak Ungu turns to be an exclusive dessert. What makes Kolak Ungu special is its compote. The fruit compote of regular kolak has cream color while Kolak Ungu gives violet color. “This is because we use Violet Sweet Potato and cook together with other tropical fruits resulting an exotic violet color that invites everyone’s eyes to have a try. We never apply any synthetic food color on the menu. Instead, it’s natural, derived from the sweet potato,” said Executive Chef Dendi Haryadi.

Healthy Sweet

Aside from the violet sweet potato, Executive Chef Dendi also adds regular sweet potato and some organic fruits such as cassava, nata de coco, banana, and dates.  “We only use the finest products from local market and we ensure the source, the distribution, the quality and the hygiene of each material,” explained Executive Chef Dendi Haryadi.

The taste of Kolak Ungu is sweet and recommended to be the first starter menu to break the fasting. It is healthy and friendly to human stomach and its digestion system.  “As experts always recommend breaking the fasting with sweet menu, we suggest guests to try our exotic Kolak Ungu,” said Herinova, Director of Food and Beverage The Media Hotel & Towers.

Throughout the month of Ramadhan, Kolak Ungu is available as one of Ta’jil menus at The Breeze Café, located on 6th floor of The Media Hotel & Towers. With only IDR 65.000,- net per person, diners can enjoy the menu  along with other Ta’jil selections at the all-day-dining restaurant.
